Tundra

Musk Ox on the tundra in winter

The tundra is the green part of the high Arctic. Well, green… In winter it’s mostly white and in the short summer the abiotic factors are so severe that little can grow. But some hardy plants do their best to brighten up the soil of the tundra with flowers and green leaves. The riches parts are often found underneath bird clifs. The birds breeding on these cliffs fertilize the soil with their guano and therefor more plants can grow. This also means more herbivores like geese, Reindeer and Muskoxen can feed. In their turn the attract predators like Arctic Fox or even Polar Bear.
